What Is A Bailiff?
· A bailiff is a person authorised to remove and sell your possessions in order to pay money you owe to a Creditor. In order for them to legally carry out their business they need to have what is known as a ‘warrant' or a ‘warrant of execution' to collect a County Court Judgement debt.
· Always ask for a copy of the warrant and identification of the bailiff. Sometimes debt collectors will purport to be bailiffs when really they are not, and do not have authority to take your goods.
